County Behavioral Health Agency BHBH Program Awards
The California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) is pleased to announce that it is continuing the process of awarding more than $900 million in Behavioral Health Bridge Housing (BHBH) Program funding to California county behavioral health agencies (BHAs). The primary focus of the BHBH Program is to help people experiencing unsheltered homelessness who also have serious behavioral health conditions, including serious mental illness and substance use disorders, that prevent them from accessing help and moving out of homelessness.
To date, DHCS has awarded 51 county BHAs funds that will be used to provide support through bridge housing settings, including tiny homes, interim housing, rental assistance models, and assisted living settings. Funds will support necessary housing operational costs as well as costs related to supporting participants’ housing stability, retention, and wellness. The bridge housing settings will include voluntary supportive services to help program participants obtain and maintain housing, manage symptoms of serious behavioral health conditions, and focus on recovery and wellness.
Stay tuned. DHCS expects to make additional county BHA award announcements soon.
